Walking for Android
You may have just read that I recently duct-taped my own walking treadmill. While driving home, I realised a reward might encourage me to keep going instead of simply crawling into bed with my laptop. Sydney’s winter is coming, and while it is not as cold as back home, it is colder than you might think. My house also seems to provide very little insulation (is reverse insulation possible?), so it can fall to 5-8 degrees Celsius inside.
The deal I made was this: if I can walk the equivalent distance to Melbourne, I am allowed to buy an Android phone or tablet. Walking to work or hiking does not count, only time spent on the TreadDesk.
I created a simple spreadsheet in Google Docs to track my progress. I’m contemplating making a small map that shows how far my virtual walk has taken me, but that is fairly low on my list of personal projects.
