If you flip through my site, you can see that I have had the privilege to travel around the world. Even though I don't often have "culture shock," sometimes I do see things that are -- unique. This is one of them.
Below is a map of where I live: Taipei County. That little red dot, is me. I've heard rumors that the city I live in (Jhonghe City) is one of the most dense places of Taiwan. That said, here is a story.
One of the first nights I arrived I was doing something in my room, and I heard music. I didn't quite know what was going on, didn't really care, and forgot about it. The next night, I heard the music again. By the forth night, I asked my girlfriend, "what the hell is that noise?" She just started laughing. A question I forgot to ask when I moved in was, "where does all the trash go?" As you can see by the map, there is no room to just leave the trash "by the road." So, when the trash truck comes by, it plays music, and everybody runs out. Believe me, the sight of a 60 year old man running after one of these trucks, in nothing but his bathrobe, is priceless.
