Back To School

Published on Oct. 18, 2006 in Taiwan

School has started again! And it is freaking hard, as expected. My class has five students, including me. Besides me, one girl is from Korea, and the remaining students are from Indonesia. Today the teacher mentioned to me that the students from Indonesia can already basically speak Cantonese, so the tones are really easy for them. Yea, I'm a little jealous.

Besides that, the past week hasn't been too interesting. Matsu was a wonderful, as you can read, but being back in Taipei is nice too. Ian and I are, for whatever reason, taking the MCSE+security -- and I am slacking pretty bad. Shortly I should kick it into high gear, so expect some more tests to be knocked out of the way shortly. One may wonder, why is Kelvin doing the MCSE? He doesn't really like certifications, doesn't really like Microsoft stuff that much (not nearly as fun as the *nix world)... Don't ask. I guess I'm doing this to show I know Microsoft stuff as well. Sigh.

I've been trying to bring back the lost art of letter writing. You may find this ironic cause I usually spend more hours infront of my computer than sleeping each day, but I'm trying to write more letters regardless. I wrote three today. I've attempted to maximize my letter-for-postage plan, using these rather light envelopes with very light paper. My decision to do this is the result of a letter I mailed to my grandma with rather heavy envelopes, rather heavy paper and with a piece of homework inside (what grandma doesn't like seeing their grandson's homework? Especially in Chinese!) It cost like 90c, which might not seem like a lot, but sending a lot of letter like that would add up! My postage now is about 47c, much more reasonable.

So, if you want a letter, umm, write me an email.
