Landed, Part II
Published on July 15, 2003 in Spain
Remembering quotes from Camus, I realize now a couple of things. Firstly, that I am about 1 hour outside of London, and second, that I really don't have any clue what date it is. I think it is the 15, but we are about 24 hours underway of our 34 hour long adventure to Barcelona. The flight has been relatively uneventful: Ashley slept for a lot of it, while I read over 200 pages from various books. My sleeping has been anything but regular, getting no more than three hours of sleep for the last five or so days. Had to leave Portland in a "bang"!
Jumping back slightly, Ashley and I left her apartment at 4:00am and jumped on the mac. At 3:45 I called Sarah, a friend from NZ. Such a cute accent! But shortly was at the airport plenty early to go through security -- which curtailed VERY long lines. our first plane flight was great as well. St. Louis was amusing, with a 4 hour (turned into 6) delay. Low turbulence, straight flying. A smooth trip so far. Lets hope the rest of the trip goes as well planned. In St. Louis we met a lady named Dawn, a mother visiting her 18 year old daughter in Rome. From Florida, we talked for a while about traveling and life. She happened to be on the same flight with us to London, and is sitting in row 38 (we are in 35). A mother at 17, she seems to have raised an amazing daughter, of which she has an amazing relationship with. The perseverance of many people is so remarkable. But alas, foot just arrived, and there is no way we are going to keep Kelvin from that!
