Lost on Rails

Published on July 21, 2003 in Italy

Well, I woke up and got a little food from a pastry shop, it was soooo good.  I checked my bag in at the train station, while Sybil and Ash kept theirs at the hotel.  At about noon we got on a train and headed over to Monaco, and jumped on a bus to Genova (I think) and then jumped on another train, but here is where things start getting just a little interesting.  In Genova we jumped on a train that had every intentions of going to one of the Cinco Terra cities, but I jumped on a portion o the train that was slightly different than Sibyl and Ashley's.  The train went one stop and just stopped where it was.  I met two other girls from Florida, Rosie and Marxy, where we hijacked some first class seats.  The train stopped for a while, and then started to go the other direction.  Ohhh nooo!!  A few other people were like what is going on? We talked to the conductor person and a few other people and it indeed was going towards some town in France, not the way we wanted to go.  I got off in Genova again and quickly, 10 minutes later, jumped on another train to La Spacia (but it drops us off at one of the cities).  So, I'm sitting right now with he Florida girls, having traveled for 6 hours across the bottom of France and into Italy.  Looking back at the traveling, I really enjoyed the bus ride through many of the small towns.  There were many sights along the way that were awe inspiring, the French Riveiara looking just like out of the books.  The ocean is amazing.  Now I'm on the last train to my destination, which somehow seems to be spending more time in tunnels than actually above the ground.  So I bid farewell, not knowing where my other traveling companions are, with a 90% chance that I will be sleeping on the beach tonight and showering in the ocean tomorrow.
