Another Christmas overseas.
Today was a good day, like most of my days. After waking up I took the MRT out to my work, but alas, nobody was around! I waited, read some, and waited some more. An hour and a half went by, and I was still waiting.
Since I normally go to work in the afternoon, I wasn't surprised that nobody was in the office. I went downstairs to the coffee shop and after a short few minutes, a co-worker named Chris met me. We chatted for the next two hours about China, traveling, teaching, polities and our home countries. An overall good time. Coffee was finished and we went upstairs, and people were there. To my surprise, my "boss" brought lots of Turkey and other food. So, for the next hour or so, we sat talking and eating good food. Eventually we finished, I said goodbye, and I went to say goodbye to my girlfriend. At the end of the blue line I met her, gave her a few things, and said goodbye. I went back downtown to Taipei Main Station, bought my bus ticket, and went to the airport. My journey had begun.
The flight was rather uneventful, except for dinner. In the middle of the flight one flight attendant came over to me, gave me an odd look, and left. A few minutes later, another attendant came over to me, and asked if I was in the right seat. "Yes, I think so" I replied. She then asked if I was Mr. Nicholson, and I said "yes, that is me." A few moments later they asked, "so, have you ordered the Hindu meal?" At first I was slightly taken back -- but quickly I realized that I had booked a special meal online. Oops. At the booking time I thought it would be humorous, and might get better food, but it did cause some confusion.
I arrived in Hong Kong, as I have many times before, and caught the bus downtown. For those of you curious, you go straight ahead after crossing customs, then take a right down the ramp before the train. Jump on the buses to the right, A21 is most likely the one you want. Luckily I still had a little money on my subway card, so could just jump on without needing to use any of my money. The bus is always interesting, especially considering I was the only "westerner" there. We went downtown, and eventually I got off at my stop. I went up to my hostel, which was in the crappy Mirador Mansion (but you can't get more bang for your buck anywhere else). I met my "roommates," one guy from England, the other from Israel. Next called my parents, and finally went to bed.
