Six Day on Ios
Published on Aug. 6, 2003 in Greece
Seeing as t hough five or six days have passed, you can imagine what Ios as like for me. Lets jump back, the days are blurred but I will try and summarize what has happened.
The first day on the ferry, the 31 I guess, I arrived at Paros and jumped off the boat, and got a super fast ferry to Ios. Horrible lady. That cost a few Euro's, but that is alright, I am in no short s supply of money right now (although I am spending a lot!!) So, I eventually got on the right ferry and met these two Sweetish girls (Actually, waiting for the ferry). Kishden (Shisden) and Maria. They were really quite awesome, just plain old good people. We talked for the entire ferry ride over, and all decided to go to the campsite Ana was at, Far Out. While waiting for the bus to Far Out I noticed one of the Aussie girls I met on the bus over to Athens! After arriving at Far Out this made things convienant, cause we got a bungalow for three people but stuck four people in it and saved some money. Hurrah! That night I shot Ana off an email, and unfortunately didn't see her until the next afternoon, when she poked her head into the bungalow. We spent a while hanging out, and then she got ready for work. The entire situation was rather awkward however, as she asked "so, where are you going tonight" and I said "here her here, and I heard Disco 69 was filled with a bunch of Italian guys." She replied "that is where I work" and I though "ooohh, nooo." So this must have been Friday night. I had arranged to meet my friends at the Sunrise bar, but I accidently went to the Sunset bar, and so we never met up. It was tonight that I met two people from the states, a few from Germany,` and other Aussies. They all had a flat and I overheard them talking about the CDC. I said "my sister works at the CDC" and they took me in as family. Drank a beer with them and then went out as a big group to Q's and then over to Star. We danced until like 5:00am and I went over to 69 to meet up with Ana, and she made fun of me t through the window. At maybe 6:30 or so she was able to come out with me, and I walked her and W Wendy (her friend) home. I fell asleep next to Ana that night, until Wendy woke me up by her snoring. Loud!!I went back to my own bungalow at that point, and slept for a while. The next night was really low key, I just had dinner with the girls and stayed at home, don't th ink I even went into the Village. Kishden and Maria decided to all go in and came back drunk, but they didn't disturb me. I went to bed so early that I woke up at like 6;00 or something like that when Ana was coming home (that is right, I slept in Ana's bed while she was gone). I woke up at 8:00 when she got home. I didn't even try to sleep, but read a little while Ana started to fall asleep. The days are filled with the same thing typically, going to the beach or reading by the pool. Unfortunately the music is the same, over and over and over. each day. At 12:00 the girls left to get a room at the hostel downtown, and I moved in with Karen, the Aussie, into a little house. It was soooo funny! Funny looking! Well, we got out house, and that night I was supposed to meet up with them at 8:00. Of course I was with Ana and the bus was too full, so I was unable to meet them. That is alright, they didn't seem to mind. And this last night, number 5, I got creative and did something for Ana that I have not done in a long time (being romantic). I went downtown that afternoon and got my tickets for the ferry and bus rides, and then found a place to get a good pillow an pillow case. I then got some string, and sowed onto a pillow "Should Would Could", it took a LONG time! I met two Kiwi's, a couple from Auckland. They were very nice, and I told them about the bars downtown. I fell asleep, and at like 6:00am when Karen got home (she got a job at a bar called B Blue Night) I went and slipped the pillow under Ana's head. IK think it was very much appreciated when she was curled around it the next morning. We spent the entire day together, Just kissing and so forth. Laying in the sun. We had dinner together, and my ferry left at 9:20. Well, interestingly enough she was in the shower until 9:00, and I waited around and then went to get on the bus (didn't want to miss the ferry). I was about to get on one of the buses and realized that I really like this girl (Ana, met in Rome, remember?) And so I did NOT get on the bus. I told Ana's neighbors that I would be waiting by the bus, and a few minutes later (I was waiting by the gate, she came running out). She jumped on the bus with me, and we talked. She came down to the Port with me, and said farewell (the ferry was slightly late). It was almost something out of a movie, I was the last one on the ferry. Very romantic. And so I slept, and slept. The entire ferry ride basically. I got to Athens and got on a bus, to Patras, where I am now. I checked my email and wrote quite a few, for an hour and a half. Talked to my friend from NZ. And so, that is where I am at. Italy by tomorrow, Pisa/Florence and then Switzerland the day after. A lot of traveling! Good thing I can sleep on Ferry's, cause I have slept on a ferry or a bus for like half of my travels!! Now I am in a coffee shop, drinking some coffee, about to go read or try and find some park. So I say farewell, until Pisa most likely. Good day!
