First off, don't worry, it wasn't me.
The day started off as usual: check email, call the United States, take care of business. Yan-Shih baked some muffins, and some yummy scones. To get out of the house we decided to take a little trip down to Oxford street in the City and go to one of the market (YS loves markets). Maybe 2:00 we left he house and headed down Parramatta road for the City.
An hour later we were parked down some side street and walking towards the markets. While much more "unique" than the markets in Taiwan (which typically sell the same stuff over and over), we quite enjoyed ourselves. One of the food vendors was looking to sell some extra kebab huge sandwich things, and lowered the price from $8,50 to $5. We picked up two of them.
After some time wandering through the little market we continued down Oxford street. Yan-Shih popped in to every store she liked, and I stood outside with the rest of the blokes. Eventually we made it back to the care and started our way home.
I had intended to take Parramatta Road all the way back home, yet got stuck in the far right lane (three lanes from where I wanted to be), so couldn't continue straight. The only option was to head onto the M4, which is fine by me. The car in front of me was acting a tad funny: it was jumping from the left lane to the right quite quickly. Somebody in a hurry.
The light turned to green and we headed onto the onramp. The older red Lancer hit the gas half-way down the ramp producing a cloud of black smoke, flying through the cars before him. We rounded the corner just as he lost control of his car, smashing into the right median, then flying across the ramp to the left side of the road.
I quickly said "crap, that guy just had an accident, while Yan-Shih seemed to still be a few seconds behind. The car to my right and myself both pulled over, and we jumped out to see if he was ok. The driver quickly jumped out of the car, somewhat in disbelief, and sat down on the left side of the road. The first guy called the tow truck and police, and I asked if he needed any help. He seemed to have control of the situation, so we said goodbye and pulled back onto the freeway. Within a few kilometers we met the tollbooth, where we told the lady about the accident.
So, the lesson of the day: it isn't worth it to try and save three minutes by speeding.
After we came home I treated Yan-Shih to a pint of Guinness at the Irish Pub near our apartment (she like Guinness, how awesome is that?!) Anyhow, this is due to the fact that the Sydney Swans lost to Collingwood in AFL. Boo Swans!
And that bring us to tonight, with myself tying to perfect my backup plan to Amazon's S3. I'll write about my final outcomes in my tech-blog surely. Stay posted. Today was a good day.
